For Lawyers
Offered Training
The Fonds d’assurance plays an active role in preventing malpractice claims and professional errors or omissions.
All our Web-pro training of the FARPBQ Catalog are recognized for the three (3) hours of compulsory continuing training in ethics, deontology or professional practice.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please note that in-class training of the Fonds d’assurance is suspended for an indefinite period. Only Web-pro training courses from the FARPBQ Catalog are currently available at: https://webpro.barreau.qc.ca/formations-farpbq.html
The purpose of the various prevention activities is not to establish new rules of conduct for lawyers, but to help them avoid a legal malpractice claim. Even if unfounded, a claim is a source of several inconveniences and may result in payment of significant defense costs.
The Fonds d’assurance provides its insureds with various resources to help them prevent claims.
Continuous Training
Our Claims Prevention Department provides classroom and online training sessions to lawyers, designed to prevent professional liability in different areas of practice.
Be it audiovisual training on various cases of professional errors that may arise in the practice of a lawyer and to which several members of the judiciary have participated, or training more focused on recurring errors such as non-compliance with deadlines, in civil law, business law, criminal law or family law, these trainings, recognized by the Barreau du Québec, are not to be missed. They may help reduce the risk of being the subject of a malpractice claim.
These trainings are an excellent way to complete the three (3) hours of mandatory training in ethics code of conduct and professional practice.
A practical solution for lawyers to complete their continuing education requirements.
